Anwaruzzaman wins in Sylhet city polls

Awami League-backed candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury has become victorious in the mayoral race of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) elections.

Anwaruzzaman bagged 1,18,614 votes while his nearest rival Jatiya Party contestant Nazrul Islam Babul got 51,321 votes. 

Returning officer declared Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury victorious in the elections of Sylhet City Corporation on Wednesday night.

The voting began at 8:00 am and continued till 4:00 pm.

There are a total of 190 vote centres in Sylhet city while number of voters 4 lakh 87 thousand 753.
