Fisheries and Livestock Minister S M Rezaul Karim said the country has a sufficient number of animals for Eid-ul-Azha.
He said this after an inter-ministerial meeting on Wednesday to ensure an adequate supply of sacrificial animals.
Fisheries and Livestock Ministry secretary Raunak Mahmud and chiefs of the various departments of the ministry were present at the meeting.
Mentioning that there is enough stock of sacrificial animals at various farms across the country due to the sustainable production policy of the government and various steps taken by the livestock department, S M Rezaul Karim directed the law enforcement agencies to remain highest alert to tackle illegal animals from the neighboring country.
The Fisheries and Livestock Minister also directed the concerned officials and the law enforcers to remain alert against business syndicates ahead of the Eid-ul-azha.
