AL candidate Khair Abdullah wins in Barishal

Awami League (AL) mayoral candidate Abul Khair Abdullah won in Barishal City Corporation (BCC) polls defeating Islami Andolon Bangladesh's candidate Syed Faizul Karim by a huge margin of 53,407 votes. 

According to the unofficial result, Khair Abdullah secured 87,752 votes while Syed Faizul Karim got 34,345 votes.

Seven candidates competed for the mayoral post in the Barishal city polls. Besides, 118 candidates are in the race for the post of general councillor and 42 candidates for the reserved councillor post.

Awami League mayor nominee Abul Khair Abdullah and Islami Andolon Bangladesh's Mufti Syed Faizul were the two strong candidates.
