All jewellery shops in Laxmipur remained closed on Monday in protest of a robbery at an outlet in the city and chopping its owner, reports The Daily Sun.
Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) Laxmipur District unit is observing the programme since 9:00am. They will also observe a human chain in front of Laxmipur Press Club at 3 pm to protest the incident of robbery and demanding the arrest of the culprits.
Ajay Roy, member of BAJUS Lakshmipur district unit, said that the police could not arrest any other robber except the two involved in the robbery.
Demanding the arrest of the robbers and the recovery of the looted gold ornaments, he urged the administration to ensure the security of all the gold traders of the district.
BAJUS district unit president Harihar Pal said that there are more than 800 gold shops in the district and all of those have been closed since morning.
