Police on Saturday rescued a newborn baby from Khajanagar in Kushtia, a day after she was stolen from Natore Sadar Hospital on Friday.
The new born baby was handed to her parents.
The law enforcement agency arrested two women in connection with the incident.
The detainees were identified as Kajoli Khatun, 42, hailed from Khajanagar village in Sadar upazila and Kajoli, 30, a resident of Poradaha area in Kushtia Sadar upazila. She used to live in Chak Baidyanath area in Natore town, reports BSS.
Natore police super Sifur Rahman in a press briefing said, on information police detained Kajoli, the fake nurse, at around 5 am from Chak Baidyanath area in Natore town. Later, after her confessional statement, police conducted a raid at Khajanagar village in Kushtia and arrested Kajoli Khatun who bought the newborn baby at a cost of Tk 8,000.
Natore Sadar Hospital sources said Hasnahena, a woman of Naldanga upazila, gave birth to the baby at the hospital on Thursday noon.
On Friday morning Kajoli in a nurse's uniform entered the hospital and stole the baby.
Civil Surgeon of the hospital Dr Muhammad Moshiur Rahman said they informed police immediately.
