Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak said a new possibility is being opened in the agriculture sector by producing foreign flowers, fruits and vegetables.
He said this while addressing a seminar titled ‘Investment for the Sustainable Lasting Food Management’ in the capital on Thursday.
Public Private Partnership Authority Director General Mohammad Abdul Bashar, and Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Winnie Estrup Petersen, among others, addressed the seminar.
The agriculture minister said Bangladesh is self-contained in producing vegetables and rice since 2015.
He also said that farmers sometimes don’t get fair prices for agricultural products although the government is giving subsidies in the sector.
Emphasizing more importance of fair prices, the agriculture minister urged authorities concerned to take the initiative to export new products to the agriculture sector.
