Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Hiroyuki Hosoda paid a courtesy call on his Bangladesh counterpart Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
The meeting was held at the speaker conference room of the Japanese parliament on Thursday.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent Japan visit, the golden jubilee of the Japan-Bangladesh relationship, the increase of Japanese investment in Bangladesh, the development of human resources, strengthening of bilateral relations, and expansion of trade and commerce between the two countries.
Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury urged Japan to invest more in trade and commerce, information technology and human resource sectors in Bangladesh.
Later, the Bangladesh parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury visited the Japanese parliament.
Hiroyuki Hosoda briefed the delegation about the parliamentary activities of Japan during that time.
