A joint exercise of Bangladesh and US navies titled 'Exercise Tiger Circ-40' began at BNS Nirvik in Chattogram on Sunday.
Chattogram Naval Regional Commander Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the exercise, said an ISPR press release.
Besides, selected representatives from the US Embassy in Bangladesh participated in the exercise.
The Armed Forces Division, officials of Army and Navy as well as officials of Chattogram Naval Region and invited guests were present at the inaugural function.
Under the management of Commodore SWADS Command, special forces of Bangladesh Army and Navy and special forces of the US participated in this exercise.
According to the release, the main objective of the joint training exercise is to improve the existing good relations between the armed forces of the two countries, as well as to increase the strategic capabilities of the both countries and to acquire mutual technical and procedural knowledge.
The joint exercise will end on June 15, 2023.
