Bangladesh Railway (BR) has temporarily suspended its four staffers over the derailment of Sonar Bangla Express train at Hasanpur station of Nangalkot in Cumilla on Sunday evening, reports BSS.
The suspended officials are Abdul Quader, a guard (Chattogram division); Jasim Uddin, the train's locomaster (Dhaka Headquarters); Md Mohsin, assistant locomaster (Dhaka Headquarters) of the train; and Wahid, maintainer signal of Hasanpur station.
Earlier, on Sunday night, the railway authorities formed a four-member probe body, led by Divisional Transport Officer (Chattogram) Tarique Md Imran, to investigate the incident.
The probe body was asked to submit report by three working days.
The Dhaka-bound Sonar Bangla Express from Chattogram hit a freight train at Hasanpur station at 6.45pm causing its locomotive and seven carriages-four Sobhon class chair coaches and three AC coaches to derail.
About 60 people, including 12 Election Commission (EC) officials, were injured.
