Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Roads Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said Awami League is ready for the next parliamentary elections and runs the government.
He made the remarks while visiting the stage of the Awami League’s 22nd national council in the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Thursday.
Quader also said no one is essential for the party except Sheikh Hasina.
"Only the president of Awami League Sheikh Hasina is essential for the party. There is none who will not support her," he said.
Mentioning that the gathering at the council will be one of the biggest ever, Obaidul Quader gave necessary instructions to the council preparatory committee to prepare the stage as desired.
Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahaudidn Nasim, Organising Secretary Mirza Azam, SM Kamal Hossain, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Whip Ikbalur Rahim, Deputy Minister for Water Resources Enamul Haque Shamim, among other central and city Awami League leaders, were present during the visit.
Awami League leaders said the council will focus on building a developed, enriched and smart Bangladesh led by Sheikh Hasina and dreamt by Bangabandhu.
