Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's personal physician Emeritus Professor Dr. ABM Abdullah said, due to climate change, the incidence of dengue is high in October this year as well. Monsoon has come late. The breeding of Aedes mosquitoes has increased due to the accumulation of water in various places due to intermittent rains. As a result, the dengue season has been prolonged. Dengue outbreaks will continue until winter arrives.
He said, outbreak of dengue fever from May to October, especially during monsoon, has been observed for the past few years. During this period, the Aedes mosquito lays its eggs and reproduces in the accumulation of water from occasional light rains. These mosquitoes are going into the house. There, Aedes mosquitoes breed and spread their eggs in bathtubs, toilet bowls, under refrigerators, under air conditioners, and in rooftop gardens.
Professor Abdullah also said that most of the patients are infected with dengue long before they are admitted to the hospital. However, the number of dengue cases will decrease within the next week. And the death rate will actually decrease as the number of infected decreases. But to avoid this dengue must destroy mosquito breeding
In a word, you have to protect yourself by keeping your house and yard clean. City corporations should be more aware. Flying mosquitoes should be destroyed with the help of faking machines. He said that it is possible to prevent dengue only if this program is continued throughout the year. Because there is no cure for dengue, only timely treatment and awareness can control dengue.
Regarding the dengue patients in the slums, he said, those who live in the slums are returning to the slums after working in different houses during the day and getting infected from outside. And this is how they are affected. Because dengue mosquitoes breed in clean water. Aedes mosquitoes are also spreading from bus stations, train stations.Professor Dr. ABM Abdullah also said that Dengue is mainly of four types, Dengue 1, 2, 3, 4. Those who are dying, being affected may have been affected before, but did not notice. But this time Den-4 is affected more. So he advised not to neglect dengue fever.
He said, the body especially bone, waist, back including joints, muscle and headache and severe pain behind the eyes. Another name of this dengue fever is break bone fever. In the case of children, if they are touched with the intensity of pain, they cry, have an irritable mood. 4-5 days after fever, red rash appears all over the body. Which is called skin rash. Which is like an allergy or a scratch. This can be accompanied by nausea and even vomiting.
Dr. Abdallah says the patient experiences excessive fatigue and loss of appetite. Dengue usually goes away after 4-5 days. Some patients develop fever again after 2-3 days. This is called biphasic fever. Dengue shock syndrome is a serious aspect of dengue fever. Dr. Abdullah also said that the prevalence of dengue (type-1,3,4) dengue has increased. If not treated in time, shock syndrome, i.e., sudden loss of body, hemorrhagic fever, or internal bleeding has increased the risk of death.
The bottom line is that there is no treatment for dengue and there is no vaccine for dengue, so the emphasis should be on prevention. The former director of the disease control branch of the Department of Health and public health expert Dr. Benazir Ahmed said about dengue, dengue is not centered in Dhaka anymore, dengue is increasing all over the country. There are 350 municipalities outside Dhaka, these municipalities also have characteristics of urbanization, where all the materials for dengue breeding exist. The total number of dengue cases in 350 municipalities will be biggest.
Dr. Benazir also said that except for Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi or big cities, there is no capacity for dengue detection and Aedes mosquito control in small cities. Dengue started in 2000, in 22 years we could not control dengue only in Dhaka city. If we continue like this for the next 30 years, we will not be able to control dengue. He said, the main basis of the national strategy will be entomologists, entomologists, laboratories, various types of mosquito control equipment and pesticides.
If a large-scale strategy can be developed, then we will suffer more in dengue than we have suffered in Corona. Hospital admissions of dengue patients may increase, deaths may also increase. When asked how effective and strong measures can be taken, he said, there will be entomologists who will conduct research on dengue control, doctors will provide treatment, the councilors of each ward and the public should be actively involved in dengue control along with awareness. If the mosquitoes in one's house are killed or the breeding ground of dengue is destroyed.
