Reserved seat MP Sheikh Anne Rahman passed away at a hospital in Bangkok on Tuesday.
She was 62, reports UNB.
Anne had been suffering from cancer, breathed her last around 1 pm in Bangkok, said Goutam Narayan Roy Chowdhury, personal assistant of Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim.
She was survived by her husband Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, cousin of the father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a son and a daughter and a host of relatives to mourn her death.
Her body will be brought home on Wednesday from Bangkok.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday expressed her deep shock and sorrow at the death of Anne Rahman.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said that Anne Rahman was the child of the Awami political family.
Hasina expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul.
