Bangladesh has been ruled out of Women’s Asia Cup after their last match of the initial phase against the UAE was washed out due to persistent rain on Tuesday in Sylhet, reports UNB.
To qualify for the semi-finals, Bangladesh had only one way, to beat UAE. But the rain washed away the last hope of Nigar Sultana and her team.
The match officials abandoned the match at 11:10 am (Bangladesh time). With this, Bangladesh’s campaign to keep the title at home ended.
Before the match against UAE, Bangladesh endured a shocking defeat to Sri Lanka. The hosts failed to chase a target of 41 in seven overs.
As Bangladesh is now out of the race, Thailand became the fourth team to go to semi-finals.
Before Thailand, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka booked their places in the semi-finals.
