Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey Padak winning noted artist and Professor of Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University Samarjit Roy Chowdhury.
In a condolence message, the premier prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family, reports BSS.
Samarjit Roy Chowdhury died at a hospital in the capital on Sunday. He was 85.
Dhaka University Fine Arts faculty dean Nisar Hossain said, “Artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury passed away today at a private hospital in Dhaka. He was admitted to the hospital with heart complexities. He also had been suffering from pneumonia.”
The Ekushey Padak winner was born in 1937 in Cumilla.
