Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin on Friday said Bangladesh has achieved a remarkable success in addressing the adverse impacts of climate change and the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to this end is being applauded at the world level.
"The government has already submitted the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), is formulating the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and drafted Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan 2022-2041. Actions taken to deal with climate change risks in Bangladesh have been strengthened," he told a conference, reports BSS.
The environment minister was addressing the inaugural session of the three-day International Conference on Environmental Protection for Sustainable Development, organised by Forest and Environment Subcommittee of Bangladesh Awami League, at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University in the capital.
Shahab Uddin said so far, 789 projects have been taken involving Taka 3362 crore with financial support from Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund.
He said in spite of all the challenges for environmental protection, the present government is implementing various policies and programmes to ensure a sustainable environment suitable for living.
The Department of Environment (DoE) is taking and implementing various effective measures to check environmental pollution, the minister said.
