Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director (MD) M A N Siddique said the operation of metro rail will start in December next.
“Initially, the metro rail will run every 10 minutes and later every 7-4 minutes,” he said.
Siddique said this at a press conference on the latest progress of the metro rail project on Monday.
According to the DMTCL, the overall progress of the MRT Line-6 is 81.70 per cent while the work progress of the Uttara-Agargaon part (First phase) is 93.86 per cent, Agargaon to Motijheel part (Second phase) is 81.86 per cent and the overall progress of electrical and mechanical work is 83.34 per cent.
According to DMTCL, there will be a total of 144 coaches for the 24 train sets that will run on a 21km route from Uttara to Kamalapur railway station via Agargaon, Farmgate, Dhaka University campus and Motijheel. There will be a total of 17 stations.
