The Ministry of Education issued directives to all educational institutions in the country to introduce a two-day weekly holiday in a bid to save electricity.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division under the education ministry issued the directives on Monday.
The directives said all educational institutions across the country will remain closed on Friday and Saturday and it will come into effect soon.
Earlier in the day, the government decided on a two-day weekly holiday in all educational institutions.
The decision came from the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier in February, Education Minister Dipu Moni at a function said the government will introduce a two-day weekly holiday in all educational institutions in the country from the next year.
