The tea workers have withdrawn their strike after getting the assurance of Tk 145 daily wage.
Bangladesh Tea Workers Union acting General Secretary Nripen Paul announced the cancellation of the strike.
Tea workers announced this after a meeting with the stakeholder at the Divisional Labour Department office in Sreemangal of Moulvibazar on Saturday afternoon.
In the meeting, the tea workers' leaders agreed to withdraw their ongoing strike after re-fixing their daily wage at Tk 145 following the assurance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
They, however, demanded all facilities including wages and rations for the last 12 days.
Lawmaker Abdus Shahid, Labour Department Director General Khaled Mamun Chowdhury, Moulvibazar superintendent of police Mohammad Zakaria, and leaders of the tea workers were present in the meeting.
The workers of 167 tea gardens across the country, including 92 of Moulvibazar, continued their strike till Saturday demanding an increase in their daily wages to Tk 300 from Tk 120 with inflation rising and the currency depreciating.
