People are raving about a military technique that helps you fall asleep in just two minutes.
Fitness guru Justin Agustin shared an incredible technique that promises to end those restless nights.
He states in his YouTube video: "There's actually a military-proven technique to fall asleep in exactly two minutes after closing your eyes. It's mind-blowing."
The method was originally designed to help soldiers sleep under any conditions, from noisy battlefields to the most uncomfortable spots. Crucial for soldiers who need their reflexes sharp, this technique was mainly developed for fighter pilots who can't afford to lose focus due to sleep deprivation, as per Agustin's research.
Delving into the specifics, Justin instructs to start by calming your entire body and progressively shutting down each part, head to toe. Commence with easing the forehead muscles, he advises: "Relax your eyes, your cheeks, your jaw and focus on your breathing.
"Now, go down to your neck and your shoulders. Make sure your shoulders are not tensed up. Drop them as low as you can and keep your arms loose to your side, including your hands and fingers."
For added effect, envision a warm sensation flowing from your head down to your fingertips. To complete the process, take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and let the relaxation spread through your chest, stomach, thighs, knees, legs, and feet.
"Again, imagine this warm sensation going down from your heart all the way to your toes," he continued. "While you're doing this, it's really important to clear your mind of any stresses."
To help achieve a stress-free state, he suggests envisioning two specific scenarios. In the first scenario, picture yourself in a serene setting, he suggested "Laying in a canoe on a calm lake with nothing but a clear blue sky above you."
For the second, he instructs to "imagine yourself lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch black room."
He further advises: "At any time when you start thinking about anything else or you start getting distracted, repeat these words for ten seconds - 'Don't think. Don't think. Don't think. Don't think'."
With regular practice of this technique every night for six weeks, he claims mastery over it, allowing individuals to fall asleep within two minutes each night. Users have shared their experiences with his method in the comments section.
One user testified: "This technique is called progressive relaxation and it works! I used to use it in college when I had horrible anxiety." Another mentioned: "I learned this technique, not for falling asleep, but for pain control. It's effective."
A third suggested an alternative approach, saying: "Actually I learned that if you think of a memory instead of imagining something usually helps a lot more. You're using a different part of the brain when you're remembering a core memory rather than spending energy of creating new things. It definitely makes me fall asleep much faster."
