Finally, the main attacker of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been arrested. According to Mumbai Police, he was apprehended early Sunday morning from the Thane area of Maharashtra, according to Indian media outlets.
The reports state that around 1 am on early Thursday, an unidentified person entered Saif Ali Khan's house in Bandra, Mumbai. Later, around 2:30 am, the same individual allegedly attacked the actor with a sharp knife.
Saif was admitted to Lilavati Hospital with six injuries following the incident. Since then, Mumbai Police had launched a massive search operation with 30 teams looking for the culprit.
A senior officer from Mumbai Police’s DCP rank, who was part of the operation, informed the media that the attacker was found asleep in the Thane area. He was lying in a pile of dry grass in a bushy area. The police claimed to have recovered a sharp weapon and a towel from him.
In initial questioning, the individual identified himself as Md Shariful Islam Shehzad.
On Thursday, a CCTV footage from the back staircase of Saif's house had shown the face of a suspected person, which was then released by the police.
