Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi on Wednesday for a regular check-up.
Sonia has been suffering from a respiratory infection and has been unwell since Tuesday when the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ began its Uttar Pradesh leg, reports Hindustan Times.
Her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accompanied her to the hospital.
Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah lamented over Gandhi's hospitalisation and wished her a “speedy recovery and healthy return”.
“Sad to know that senior INC India leader Smt Sonia Gandhi is admitted to the hospital. I wish her a speedy recovery and healthy return,” he tweeted.
The Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed its journey at 6 a.m. on Wednesday after halting for the night at Mavikalan in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat.
