After receiving assurances from the government to meet their demands, water transport workers have called off their strike after nearly 45 hours of work stoppage, reports Dhaka Tribune.

On Saturday night, leaders of the Bangladesh Workers' Federation and Bangladesh Lighterage Workers' Union met with the Director General of the Department of Shipping at his office. Following the meeting, they announced the withdrawal of their strike.

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, the unloading of imported goods resumed from mother vessels anchored at Mongla Port. The port authority's traffic department confirmed this information.

Importers have started unloading fertilizer, coal, clinker, and stone from 13 mother vessels.
