Jewellery business regained its glittering fame in the country as Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir has shown the pathway of smart jewellery businesses, said an executive member of the trade body.
“The country’s gold businesses are now united. Anyone can make profit in this business now. We do not allow fraud. All members want to do a smart jewellery business here. BAJUS president Sayem Sobhan Anvir is showing that path to us,” Dr. Dilip Kumar Roy, a former president of BAJUS, told a views-exchange meeting in Natore on Thursday, reports Daily Sun.
In his speech, Dr. Dilip Kumar described Anvir as an architect of the modern jewellery industry in Bangladesh.
“Under his prudent leadership, BAJUS is now transforming into a smart trade body. And all jewellers of the country are now getting benefits of his presidency at the traditional organisation,” he said.
BAJUS leaders appreciated the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the policy framework to flourish the jewellery industry in Bangladesh.
“BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir is establishing the first gold refinery in the country following the guideline of the government. When the refinery facilities will begin operation, local businesses will export gold bars with ‘Made in Bangladesh’ tag,” Dr. Dilip Kumar added.
The business leader hoped that the jewellery industry would surpass the apparel industry in terms of export earnings in the near future.
BAJUS vice-president Dewan Aminul Islam, executive members Pabitra Chandra Ghosh, district committee convener Swapan Kumar Poddar, member secretary Raghunath Karmakar, Singra Upazila committee president Sujan Kumar Das and Gurudaspur upazila committee president Prem Kumar Ghosh spoke on the occasion. Central Committee vice president Reponul Hasan chaired the session.
Meanwhile, BAJUS hosted a district conference in Bogura on Thursday night.
