The gold price has topped Tk 1 lakh a bhori again as jewellers have inflated the price of the precious metal to Tk 101,243 per bhori on the market in Bangladesh.
The standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Thursday.
The price of each bhori of gold crossed the Tk 1 lakh mark for the first time in the second week of July this year.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk 8,680 per gram while it is Tk 8,285 for 21-carat gold, according to a press release signed by Committee vice-chairman Enamul Haque Bhuiyan Liton.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 7100 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk 5,920 a gram. The new tariffs will come into effect on Friday, the release said.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 147 per gram while Tk 140 for 21-carat . The price of 18-carat silver is Tk 120 per gram while the price of traditional one is Tk 90 per gram.
