The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has decided to introduce one-way traffic to some crossings in the capital city for nine days from February 28 to March 8 aimed at easing the public sufferings for nagging traffic jam, reports BSS.
"Traffic jams occur every morning and afternoon during peak hours at Abul Hotel and Madina Hotel Crossing, Malibagh Railgate Crossing and Khilgaon Community Center Crossing in the Rampura area of Dhaka metropolis. In order to reduce the traffic congestion and mitigate the suffering of the people in the areas, it has been decided to make those roads one-way from February 28 to March 8," it said.
The statement signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali said that one-way traffic will be made on the road Abul Hotel Crossing to Medina Hotel Crossing to Khilgaon Community Center Crossing (so that vehicles will enter both lanes from Abul Hotel Crossing and go only eastwards from Medina Hotel Crossing to Khilgaon Community Center Crossing).
It informed that instead of turning right from Khilgaon Community Center Crossing, vehicles from Khilgaon Flyover will go straight west and turn right from Malibagh Railgate Crossing and go towards Rampura Bridge, it said.
Vehicles from Khilgaon and Taltala going to Abul Hotel will go straight south instead of turning right from Medina Hotel Crossing. While, vehicles at Khilgaon Community Center Crossing turn right and proceed towards Rampura Bridge/Mouchak via Malibagh Railgate.
The DMP has requested the drivers of vehicles heading towards Abul Hotel Crossing, Medina Hotel Crossing, Khilgaon Community Center Crossing and Malibagh Railgate Crossing to follow the mentioned instructions.
The DMP Commissioner has sought everyone's cooperation in this regard.
