Section 144 imposed at the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi of Gazipur has been withdrawn.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr. Nazmul Karim Khan confirmed the matter on Thursday evening.
He said the restriction previously imposed at the Ijtema ground has been withdrawn. A decision in this regard was taken in the evening.
A public notice signed by Dr. Nazmul Karim Khan stated: It is hereby informed for all the concerned that according to the powers granted to the Police Commissioner under Sections 30 and 31 of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police Act-2018, the orders issued in the Bishwa Ijtema ground and the surrounding three-kilometer area from 2 pm on December 18 have been withdrawn from 5 pm Thursday.
Earlier, three people were killed and about a hundred devotees from both sides from the organizers were injured in a clash over the occupation of the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi of Gazipur on the night of December 17. In this incident, Section 144 was imposed in the three-kilometer area surrounding the Ijtema Maidan, including a public notice signed by Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr. Nazmul Karim Khan that afternoon.
