President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Sunday asked new Bangladesh ambassador to Indonesia Md Tariqul Islam to explore the existing trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The President came up with the directives when Ambassador Tariqul Islam paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told state news agency BSS that during the meeting, the new ambassador sought President's directives to fulfill his assignment in Indonesia.
He said the two countries have many potential to explore, including increasing the export of various products to Indonesia as Bangladesh produced world-standard quality products like readymade garment (RMG), medicine and ceramics.
Mohammed Shahabuddin told the ambassador that there is an ample scope to develop the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia as well as the growth of business and trade.
He laid emphasis on mutual visit exchange of businessmen to increase trade and commerce between Bangladesh and Indonesia.
