Customs officials arrested a woman with over eight kg of gold, worth Tk 6.57 crore, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
The arrestee was identified as Rekha Parvin.
Rekha reached Dhaka from Dubai via an Emirates flight around 11 pm, said Farhana Begum, assistant director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Circle, on Wednesday morning.
Tipped off, a team of customs officials challenged Rekha while she was passing through the green channel of the airport.
Later, they seized 69 gold bars, one gold chain, and six gold bangles after searching her and her handbag.
A case was filed in this connection.
