Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said his party never requested India to stay and come to power.
Quader said this over Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen's recent speech after inaugurating a procession marking Janmashtami in the capital on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday, in Chattogram, Abdul Momen said that he urged India to help the government to stay in the state power.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister said none was given responsibility by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to seek such help.
“This may be one's personal opinion,” he added.
