India's Home Minister Jay Shah has assumed the role of ICC Chairman. The former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) met with officials from various cricket boards after taking up his new position, even posing for photos with them. However, a video shared by Jay Shah on social media has raised questions, as it did not feature Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi. This has sparked speculation—was Naqvi absent from the meeting?
The tension between India and Pakistan over the Champions Trophy continues to escalate. Pakistan is set to host the tournament, but India has refused to play matches on Pakistani soil, demanding that their games be held in a neutral venue. A meeting on this issue was reportedly scheduled for Thursday but has been postponed, possibly to Saturday. Meanwhile, ICC officials and representatives from different boards gathered at the ICC headquarters in Dubai. While Naqvi is said to have traveled to Dubai, it is unclear whether he met with Jay Shah.
Photos and videos from the ICC headquarters do not show Naqvi’s presence. After taking on the role of ICC Chairman, Jay Shah met with and took pictures alongside various board members, but Naqvi was not seen among them. Whether he chose not to attend or left before the photos were taken remains uncertain.
