Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam said on Monday that he is ‘fully ready’ to lead the Bangladesh squad if required since he has been playing international cricket for 10 years.
Taijul also said that he doesn’t know anything regarding Najmul Hossain stepping down from captaincy.
Bangladesh cricket fraternity was shocked since the reports of Najmul wanting to quit captaincy emerged before the team traveled to Chattogram to play the second and final Test.
“I haven’t heard anything on this matter. It’s not part of our role, I’m not fully informed on this,” Taijul said at the pre-match press conference at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.
Taijul was asked if he is prepared to lead the side if Najmul’s news turns out to be true.
“Having played for 10 years, I’m fully prepared,” the southpaw answered.
