Bangladesh team won two silver medals in the recurve men's team and recurve mixed team and one bronze medal in the recurve women's team event of the 2024 Asia Cup Archery Stage -1 (World Ranking Tournament) held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Sunday.
With the day's feat, Bangladesh's medal tally raised to four— two silver and two bronze medals— in the ongoing Asia Cup Archery after clinching their first bronze medal in the compound mixed team event on Saturday, reports UNB.
Bangladesh recurve men's team, consists of Hakim Ahmed Rubel, Abdur Rahman Alif and Sagar Islam, which got a bye in the quarterfinal, beat Uzbekistan by 5-1 set in the semifinal, but lost to India by 2-6 set in the day's final to win the silver on Sunday.
Bangladesh recurve mixed team comprises Sagor Islam and Diya Siddiqui, reached the semifinal beating Pakistan by 17-15 point in the tie breaker and, eliminated Uzbekistan by 5-3 set in the semifinal, but also lost to neighboring India by straight 0-6 set in the final to remain satisfied with the event's silver medal on Sunday.
Bangladesh recurve women's team consists of Diya Siddiqui, Shima Akter Shimu and Fahima Sultana Nisha won the bronze medal beating hosts Iraq by straight 6-0 set in a bronze medal deciding match on Sunday.
Bangladesh entered bronze medal match losing to to Uzbekistan by 3-5 set in the semifinal last Thursday.
In the recurve men's singles bronze medal match, Hakim Ahmed Rubel of Bangladesh lost to Sadikov Uzbekistan by 2-6 set.
Bangladesh compound mixed team, comprises Topu Roy and Meghla Rani won the first medal, a bronze, for the country in the ongoing tournament beating hosts Iraq by 148-145 point in a bronze medal deciding match last Saturday.
