Former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has communicated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding his availability for the remaining three India vs England Test matches. As per a report in the Indian Express, Kohli has opted to withdraw from the remaining three IND vs ENG Test matches in the ongoing five-match IND vs ENG Test series and has duly informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision.
According to a report by the Indian Express, Kohli conveyed his decision to the BCCI on Friday. On the same day, the selectors convened for an online meeting to deliberate and finalize the squad for the remaining three IND vs ENG Tests scheduled to be held in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala, reports
Before the commencement of IND vs ENG Test series, Virat Kohli had conversed with Rohit Sharma, the team management, and the selectors, expressing that representing the country has always remained his foremost priority. However, due to personal reasons, he made the decision to withdraw his name from the first two IND vs ENG Tests.
Subsequently, in an official statement, BCCI acknowledged Kohli's decision, stating, "BCCI respects his (Virat Kohli) decision and the board and team management have extended their support to the star batsman."
