India Women Cricket Team defeated their Bangladeshi counterparts by a big margin of 59 runs in the round robin league match of Women’s Asia Cup held on Saturday in Sylhet.
Winning the toss India chose to bat and put up a strong total as their openers and top order showed excellent batting, where Shafali Verma scored 55 of 44 balls, Smriti Mandhana scored 47 of 38 and Jamimah Rodrigues hammered 35 of 24.
Bangladesh bowler Rumana Ahmed took 3 wickets for 27.
In reply to seemingly big total of India, Bangladesh openers and top order also got runs, but never keep pace with the run rate. Bangladesh opener Fargana Hoque scored 30 of 40 balls, Murshida Khatun 21 of 25 and one-down batter Nigar Sultana scored 36 of 29.
Bangladesh never seemed to chase down India’s 159 and scored just 100 for 7 in 20 overs.
Dipti Sharma and Shafali Verma of India took 2 wickets each by conceding just 13 and 10 runs respectively.
For her brilliant all-round performance, Shafali Verma judged player of the match.
