Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan has said it’s the board’s failure to not look at women’s cricket with the attention it deserves.
He said this to the media after Bangladesh Women’s cricket team beat Thailand by nine wickets in their first match of Women’s Asia Cup held in Sylhet, reports UNB.
Prior to the Asia Cup, Bangladesh women’s team emerged as champions of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers.
The BCB president said the women’s team has been playing very well on a regular basis; however board has not given proper attention to the women’s team, which as he described, is a “failure of the board”.
“They have been playing so well for a long time,” Nazmul said in Sylhet. “They won the World Cup qualifiers. They played the previous World Cup, winning the qualifiers, and they also won the Asia Cup before. But we did not give them the attention they deserved, this is our failure.”
Bangladesh is the current champion in Women’s Asia Cup. In 2018, Bangladesh women won the it for the first time beating India by 2 runs.
