Bangladesh beat Thailand by 11 runs in Abu Dhabi on Friday and qualified for the main round of the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa, reports UNB.
After losing the toss, the Tigresses batted first in the second semifinal of the World Cup qualifiers. They scored 113-5 in 20 overs.
Rumana Ahmed was the highest run-getter for the Tigresses scoring 28 while Murshida Khatun scored 26.
For Thailand, Rosenan Kanoh, Phannita Maya and Onnicha Kamchomphu took one wicket each.
Chasing 114, Thailand fell short of 11 runs despite 64 runs from Natthakan Chantham. Apart from Natthakan, other Thai batters failed to impress, and they lost the chance to qualify for the World Cup.
Thailand scored 102-6 in 20 overs. For Bangladesh, Sanjida Akter Meghla took two wickets.
Bangladesh will now face Ireland in the final of the qualifiers on 24 September. Both the finalists will take part in the main event in February next year.
