Imranur Rahman retained his title of the fastest man, while Shirin Akter regained her title as the fastest women in the 100 meters sprint in first day of Sultana Kamal-Alila Group 16th National Summer Athletics held at Banani Army Stadium in the city on Friday.
Imranur won the sprint in 10.29 seconds. It’s a new national record.
On the other hand, Shirin won the women sprint in 11.95 seconds, which was also a national record on electronic board. Her previous record was 11.99 in the SAF games held at Guwahati in 2016.
Imranur participated in the national athletics meet for the first time last year. He strikes the gold in the first attempt by breaking 21 years old record. There, he defeated Mohammad Ismail who was the fastest man for fourth consecutive times.
