The High Court (HC) on Tuesday granted cricketer Al-Amin Hossain anticipatory bail for eight weeks in the case of torturing his wife for dowry, reports UNB.
The bench of Justices Md Rezaul Hasan and Md Atabullah passed the order after he surrendered before the court.
It also asked Al-Amin to surrender before Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal after eight weeks.
Lawyers Syed Mamun Mahbub and Md Ashraful Islam appeared for the bail petition.
Ashraful Islam submitted the bail petition on Monday.
Earlier on September 1, Al-Amin's wife Israt Jahan filed a complaint with Mirpur Model Police Station against him over torturing her for dowry. Later, the police registered a case in this regard.
According to the case statement, Al-Amin demanded Tk 20 lakh as a dowry from his wife and used to beat her as she disagreed to pay the dowry.
