Imtiaz Ali confirmed that his long-awaited film, “The Idiot of Istanbul”, is in the works, though it may not be his next project, reports Hinduatan Times.
When asked about casting Fahadh Faasil in the lead, he expressed his desire to work with him, saying it’s his plan to make the film with Fahadh.
If the project goes ahead as planned, “The Idiot of Istanbul” will be Fahadh's first Hindi film. Although he has said he wants to focus on Malayalam cinema, he has recently started acting in Tamil and Telugu films too.
Fahadh was seen in Aavesham and Bougainvillea in Malayalam, Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth in Tamil and Pushpa 2: The Rule with Allu Arjun in Telugu on 2024. His upcoming slate includes Don't Trouble the Trouble and Oxygen in Telugu, as well as Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira and Karate Chandran in Malayalam.
Imtiaz recently directed the hit Netflix film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, following the failure of his 2020 film ‘Love Aaj Kal’ with Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan. He has not yet announced his next project or its cast.
