Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan-starring film “Dorod” was released in 21 countries alongside Bangladesh on Friday. Directed by Anonno Mamun, the film is being shown in 84 theatres across Bangladesh.
This marks the first time in five years that a Shakib Khan film has been released in Bangladesh without a festival.
Director Anonno Mamun shared, “I was a little worried at the beginning since we are releasing it without any festival. But the audience response has been so positive that I’m no longer concerned. The response has been very good. The shows are getting house full. All the shows on Friday are already sold out. I hope the film will set a new milestone.”
Mamun made the remarks during an interview with Kolkata’s Anandabazar Online.
When asked why the film, which is set in the context of India, is not being released in India on Friday, he explained, “Initially, there was a plan to release it simultaneously. However, we decided against it due to concerns about piracy. As a result, Dorod will be released in India two weeks after its release in Bangladesh.”
He continued, “The story is based in India, and the film features actors from various industries in India. It will be released across India, and I hope the Indian audience will also enjoy it.”
