Earlier, the bodies of the six newborns were handed over to their relatives after the families requested not to conduct an autopsy on Wednesday night. A case of accidental death has been filed by the family of a newborn at Ramna Police Station in this incident.
According to hospital sources, 11 mothers and six newborns were admitted to the post-operative ward. On Tuesday (May 26) night, a mother requested the nurse to turn off the AC as she felt cold. Later, the AC was turned off for about an hour. However, when the AC was turned back on as it felt hot, two newborns fell ill within some time. They were taken to the NICU. Later, more newborns fell ill one by one and all six newborns died in the morning.
