At least 15 people were killed after a rod-laden truck overturned in the Elenga area on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway.
The accident occurred around 4:00am on Monday (May 25) in the Saratail Southpara area of the highway.
Confirming the matter from the scene, Ataur Rahman, in charge of Elenga Fire Service Station, said a truck carrying passengers along with iron rods was heading towards northern Bangladesh in the early hours of the day.
The truck lost control in the Saratail Southpara area and overturned into a roadside ditch.
As a result, 15 people were killed after being trapped beneath the truck, while six others were injured.
The injured were rescued and taken to Tangail Sadar Hospital for treatment.
