Ex-wife of Ershad jailed in fraud case

A Dhaka court has sentenced Bidisha Siddique, former wife of late president Hussain Muhammad Ershad, to two years in prison in a fraud case filed with Gulshan Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jamsed Alam passed the verdict on Wednesday.

In addition to the jail term, the court also fined her Tk 10,000.

The judge said Bidisha would have to serve an additional one month of simple imprisonment if she fails to pay the fine.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Md Hemayet Uddin Khan Hiron confirmed the development.
