The moon of the holy month of Zilhajj of the year 1447 AH has been sighted in the sky of the country.
As a result, the holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on May 28 (Thursday).
The decision was announced at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation's meeting room in Baitul Mukarram in the capital on Monday evening.
After the meeting, Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad said that information has been received about the sighting of the moon of the month of Zilhaj in the sky of Cox's Bazar district. Accordingly, the counting of the month of Zilhaj will begin from next Tuesday (May 19).
The holy day of Arafat on the 9th Zilhajj will be celebrated on May 27 and the holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on the next day, 10th Zil-hajj, i.e. May 28.
The meeting was attended by members of the National Moon Sighting Committee, representatives of various departments concerned, and religious figures.
