A new law is coming to operate RAB as an elite police force, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
He said this after a view-exchange meeting with journalists on the occasion of RAB's 22nd founding anniversary at RAB headquarters in Kurmitola in the capital on Monday afternoon.
The Home Minister said, "In the future, RAB will work by upholding human rights. Whether the name will be changed or not will be decided later."
Stating that RAB has suffered due to some officers, he said, "The institution is not responsible for this. During fascism, there were US sanctions on some officers and RAB."
Stating that there will be a new law for RAB, the minister said, "RAB will be operated under the new law, where there will be transparency and accountability."
