Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In a statement on Friday, he said that after a month of sacred fasting, Eid-ul-Fitr is approaching with a message of joy.
“The nation is about to celebrate Eid at a time when the country has earned its second independence through a mass movement led by students and people. Freed from the oppressive grip of a tyrant who ruled for over 15 and a half years, the people can now breathe in a free environment. They can speak freely and move about in peace and comfort.”
He also said, "May Allah, the Lord of the worlds, accept as martyrs those whose sacrifices have given the nation a peaceful and free country. We express our sympathy to those who have been disabled and injured and wish the injured a swift recovery."
He further added, “Even though the fascist dictator has fled, they are still trying to create chaos in the country from abroad with the help of their allies. Various conspiracies are being carried out to prevent a free, fair, and participatory election. The government must put an end to this situation and create an environment conducive to free, fair, and impartial elections.”
