Md. Rubaiyat Kabir, an official at the Earthquake Observation and Research Center, confirmed the information.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) measured the earthquake at 7.7 in magnitude. Its epicenter was 16 kilometers north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
