BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has urged political parties to work to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people of the country, saying, "The autocratic mafia has been forced to leave the country because the people have supported political parties for a change. Now we should talk about the issues of the people— this is politics. Let's work on the hopes, aspirations and expectations of the people."
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the Iftar and Dua Mahfil organized by the Nationalist Like-Minded Alliance at the Fars Hotel in Purana Paltan in the capital on Sunday.
The BNP acting chairman said, "Two years ago, all the forces that established democracy came together and gave 31 points to repair the state structure. Fascism destroyed the voting system in the country at first. All sectors of the country need to be repaired. We were the first to talk about repairing the country's structure."
Dr. Fariduzzaman Farhad, the coordinator of the Nationalist Like-Minded Alliance and chairman of the National People's Party, presided over the Iftar and Dua Mahfil. Leaders of various political parties including BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka Metropolitan South assistant secretary Mohammad Kamal Hossain were present at the iftar mahfil.
