In the wake of the July Uprising, students have launched a new organization called the 'Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad.' The central convener of the organization is Abu Baker Majumder, with Jahid Ahsan serving as the member secretary.
The council, built on the principles of education, unity, and liberation, also announced its central committee, which includes senior joint convener Touhid Mohammad Siam, senior member secretary Rifat Rashid, and chief organizer Tahmid Al Mudasir Chowdhury.
Ashrefa Khatun has been appointed as the central spokesperson.
The new student organization was officially revealed during a press conference at Dhaka University's Madhur Canteen on Wednesday (February 26) afternoon, where both the organization's name and the central and Dhaka University committees were announced.
The Dhaka University committee has appointed Abdul Kader as the convener and Mahir Alam as the member secretary. Other members of the Dhaka University committee include senior joint convener Limon Mahmud Hasan, senior member secretary Al Amin Sarker, and chief organizer Hasib Al Islam. Rafia Rehnuma Hridi will serve as the spokesperson for the Dhaka University committee.
The written statement at the press conference was read by Abdul Kader, former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and Abu Baker Majumder.
Earlier, on February 17, Abu Baker Majumder, former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced the formation of the new student organization during a press conference at Dhaka University's Madhur Canteen.
The organization’s slogan will be “Students First, Bangladesh First.”
