Students of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) started vacating their dormitories at 7 am on Wednesday. Many have already left the campus.
According to sources, the KUET authorities suspended all academic activities and announced the indefinite closure of all dormitories for overall security. The decision was made at the university’s 99th Syndicate Meeting on Tuesday.
Students were instructed to leave the dormitories by 10 am on Wednesday. Many expressed their anger over the decision.
On Tuesday night, students held a procession against the decision to vacate dormitories. However, students started leaving the campus from the morning. According to them, they are leaving as the authorities are unable to ensure security.
Many students stated that they had tickets booked for them to go home at different times during the Ramadan holiday. But they would now face a transportation crisis due to the sudden departure.
